Jazz Trio based on compositions with a strong emphasis on melody and improvisation.
Originally inspired by the occupations in which jazz guitar and trumpet central (Chet Baker with Philippe Catherine, Tom Harrell with Jim Hall, …) investigated the musicians to melodic compositions for trumpet and guitar, backed by bass, with room for improvisation the musicians.
This trio is the continuation of the jazz trio with Rudy Reunes (tp +), and further explores the musical possibilities of cool jazz and swing.
Marie-Anne Standaert (trumpet, bugle)
Marie-Anne was born in a very rural place called Adegem. At the age of 11 years, she played bugle in the local brass band. Eeventually she decided to study jazz at the conservatory and that’s when things got started. Anno 2011, Marie-Anne’s most important bands are ‘the Rhythm Junks’, the ‘Special Quintet’, together with Richard Rousselet, and her own jazz trio Misstriohso. Additionally, Marie-Anne is occasionaly active in the pop-theater world as a freelance.
Filip Deprez (bass)
Everyone knows he’s the brother of Henk. He lives a contemplative life in a Chateau in Snaaskerke, where he is engaged in working in an annex convent garden, growing British meat sheep, Flemish Giants, French meat pigeons (a red-bronze breed: unique to see and taste) and Malines cuckoos on Methode de Bresse. He studied double bass at Hein van de Geyn and in Brussels with Jean-Louis Rassinfosse. He teaches reading and math at Nieuwpoort University and realized several recordings, including Dr. Gabs, Jazz Connection Brussels, Stefaan Debevere and Rudy Reunes-Filip Verneert-Deprez-Trio.
